January and a New year

Happy slightly belated New Year….  and the weeks seem to be speeding by this January we are in week 3 already, usually January drags and I am counting the days to the end of the month, hoping spring is  starting to show her face,  I  have noticed the nights are getting slightly lighter which is always a good sign  and I  spotted a clump of snowdrops pushing up through the recent frosty ground so  spring is hopefully on the way.

We have had a busy few months here at Leger and Oaks,  flat out in the months leading up to Christmas with online sales and our Christmas markets we did during November and December, working  right up to Christmas day and then parties and family celebrations  over Christmas.  We had a respite for a  few days and popped down to Cornwall for some rest and recharge of the batteries  then back to the online sale and orders to get packed up and sent out.   After the whirlwind of Christmas and New year , I can now  finally sit down and think about new fabrics and designs and get them made up in workroom.   I have a new  Charcoal  Grey tweed in our St Moritz cape and a couple of  new colours of country style tweed checks in our Windsor Wraps and then a lovely black  couture boucle tweed fabric made into one of our Chelsea Capes with a sumptuous real fur collar in black., this is one that will look in place in the town and  city!   We will have these on the website from next month.  With all the racing, country events, point to points and of course Cheltenham festival in March to look forward to,  there are  numerous occasions to get the tweed out and no better way that a wrap or cape which can be layered for the colder days and still looks smart.

We have been out and about on the racecourse last few months between work and rain….  went to Cheltenham a couple of times in the Autumn which is always an excellent day out,  then Wincanton, down in Somerset and  Fontwell on Boxing day along with the rain, rain and more rain, in the end racing was abandoned as the conditions were becoming impossible.  We also popped up to  Doncaster one of our favourite tracks which our Mare has a habit of winning at,  which she did again back in  mid December,  beating all the boys in the race and also having the fabulous jockey Bryony Frost on her back  giving her a perfect  ride,  she has been on form since she came back this season with 2 wins and 2 seconds and seems to be really enjoying it,  albeit a slight hiccup  last week with an infected cut but  it is healing well and she should be back on the track soon we have lots to look forward to this Spring.
